Novesta Mirochna was born in Michigan. She earned her BS and MA from Eastern Michigan University, where she majored in Education, Special Education, and Communication Arts. She was a classroom teacher for eight years and an autism consultant for fourteen. Working as an adjunct professor at Eastern Michigan University, she taught in the Special Education and Drama for the Young Departments. She also co-authored an online Autism Endorsement Program.

Novesta currently lives in Arizona with her artist husband and her uppity Bengal cat, Sookie.
